Fr. J. Peter Conroy
Named publicly as accused by the Buffalo diocese on its list updated 11/5/2018. Included on the Northeast Province Jesuits’ list of credibly accused 1/15/2019. Taught at Canisius High School 1965-1968 and Canisius College 1981 for three years and again 1994-2002. Was at a retreat house in Syracuse 1985-1994. Removed 2002 after allegations to diocese of abuse of two girls, who were relatives, 1972-1975, while he was assigned to Fordham University. Reportedly also accused by a young woman who “encountered” him on a college campus. He acknowledged the abuse. Living at a retreat center since 2002 as of 1/2019. Lawsuit filed in 2/2019 by the two relatives Conroy admitted abusing. Sued also in 7/2020.
