Br. John B. Chaney
Listed on 6/11/14 by the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers (CFC) as accused by at least two persons in claims settled in bankruptcy proceedings. The order states that the merits of most of the claims settled in the bankruptcy were not tested. Chaney was added to a list of accused on the website of Boston attorney Garabedian on 10/31/14 after a settlement had been reached in the year previous. Assignments included Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell NJ, where the abuse alleged in the Garabedian case is said to have been committed. The 2014 Official Catholic Directory shows Chaney living at a Christian Brothers residence in West Park, in the NY archdiocese. Convicted abuser Bro Ronald Justin Lasik CFC and accused Bro John Laurence Heathwood CFC are also listed as residing there. Lawsuits in 3/21 by three former students allege abuse in the 1960s and ’70s. Living in 3/21 in a CFC residence in New Rochelle.
