Also known as Gene or Joe Gene Carrico. Accused in four lawsuits filed in 2003 of sexually abusing girls while a priest, at least one as young as age 7. Carrico left the priesthood in 1973, having moved through three different parishes in six years. He was laicized in 1974 and went on to marry and raise a family. He was working in 2003 as a lay religious educator in the Louisville archdiocese. Placed on leave with pay. Carrico denied the allegations in the first two lawsuits but did not comment on the others. Included on the archdiocese’s list in 2019 of those with substantiated allegations. Died 5/20/2021.
