Fr. Joseph D. Carne
Resigned in 7/2002 following a credible allegation of sexual misconduct involving a minor 27 years prior. Placed on a health-related leave of absence. Permanently removed from ministry in 4/2002, per the Diocese’s list 12/13/2018. Per the MI Attorney General’s Report in 10/2022, there were multiple allegations against Carne of the sexual abuse of boys ages 8-17 and male college students, and an attempt to forcibly kiss at least one teenage girl. Carne said he had been sexually abused by Fr. Michael Hale, which caused him “life-long troubles.” Carne died 5/13/2019.
