Fr. James F. Buckley
Retired in 2001. Suspended in 1/2020 due to an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor decades prior. Buckley denied the allegation. Included in 1/2021 on the diocese’s list of accused with “cases in process.” On 12/13/2021 the Diocese announced that the allegation was deemed credible and that Buckley would not return to ministry. Settlement in 8/2023 in the five figures. Per attorney Garabedian, Buckley sexually abused two girls, one ages 6-10 during 1967-1971 and the other ages 10-17 during 1966-1973. Buckley allegedly spanked the girls on their buttocks. The girls attended St. Joan of Arc Parish in Orleans, where Buckley was assigned. He died in 7/2024.
