Br. Joseph J. Charron
“Brother Andre.” Prior to joining the Benedictine order, was a member of the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd since 1979. Worked with that order in Momence and Lombard IL, (Diocese of Joliet), Albuquerque NM (Archdiocese of Santa Fe) and Miami FL (Archdiocese of Miami). Was the Little Brothers’ secretary general 1997-2002. Entered the Benedictine’s Marmion Monastery in Aurora IL around 2004. In 9/2021 a former Marmion Academy student reported to police that he had been sexually abused by Charron, who was a faculty member at the school. Charron was placed on leave. In 4/2022 he was criminally charged on eight counts of sex abuse and assault. Pleaded guilty to battery in 4/2024. Sentenced to 180 days in jail and 30 months’ probation. Received credit for almost 700 days of home confinement. Paid over $35K in restitution. Included in 4/2024 on the Diocese of Rockford’s list.
