Fr. Patrick B. Brennan
In 11/2023 a 71-year-old man stated publicly that he was sexually assaulted at age 6 by group of men, including Brennan. He said the abuse happened in a house down the street from his home. He had been in therapy for childhood sexual trauma, his therapists aware that Brennan was the alleged perpetrator. The man reportedly came forward to the Diocese in 1993. He said he felt betrayed by the Diocese and obtained a lawyer, then decided to not pursue legal action after receiving anonymous phone calls from people harassing him about the allegations. Brennan was not included in the 2023 IL Attorney General’s Report because the Diocese could not substantiate the allegation. Brennan died in 1995.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
