Fr. James E. Braley
Pastor of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Plymouth when removed in 2/2012 after a recent allegation of abuse of a minor in the early 1980s. The Archdiocese notified civil authorities and began its own investigation. Braley denied the allegation. Assigned to St. Peter Parish in Cambridge 1975-1981 and Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree 1981-1986. As of 11/1/2013, both a man and woman alleged abuse between 1975-1981. Included on Attorney Garabedian’s list 3/28/2016 of accused clerics named in civil claims resulting in settlements or arbitration awards. Status on the archdiocesan website changed in 3/2016 from “Case in Process” to “Found unsubstantiated; Restricted; Senior Priest.” Status remains the same on the archdiocese’s list in 8/2022.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
