Fr. Armando Andrew Annunziato

Ordained: 1956
Status: Accused

Died: 08/31/1993
Diocese: Diocese of Fall River MA

Parents of children sexually abused in the early 1960s by later convicted priest James Porter said that they reported the abuse at the time to Annunziato, who said he could do nothing. Victims said that Annununziato would walk in on Porter abusing them as children and did nothing. Annunziato died 8/31/1993. He had been elevated to monsignor by Bishop O’Malley a few weeks before his death, despite O’Malley knowing of the allegations of Annunziato’s inaction regarding Porter. Annunziation was himself named publicly as credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor(s) by the Diocese on its list in 1/2021.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
