Donor money being used to defend pedophiles
A former adherent of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) is urging the group to start fundraising for victims of SSPX sex abuse.
The letter comes in response to an appeal by Fr. Michel de Sivry, head of the Benelux district (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg), to raise money for the SSPX Gabon mission — a place revealed to have been a predator’s playground under Fr. Patrick Groche and Damian Carlile.
SSPX founder Abp. Marcel Lefebvre spent many years in Gabon as a young missionary priest, and later entrusted senior priest Fr. Groche to establish a mission there. As Church Militant reported in Spotlight: Black Trads Matter, victims accuse Groche, along with Carlile, of taking sexual advantage of multiple Gabonese altar boys.
Groche eventually admitted to the abuse and has been housed in an SSPX priory in Lourdes, France, where he continues to have free access to altar boys and hear confessions. One of his victims, Claude, tried to confront him last summer in Lourdes, but Groche fled. Carlile is spending his days at the SSPX house in Montgardin, France.
Church Militant has questioned the Society on its use of donor money to pay attorneys to defend sexual predators, e.g., in the case of recently convicted pedophile Fr. Matthew Stafki. But leadership refuses to give an account of how donations are used.
The author of this letter below similarly challenges SSPX leadership.
Dear Father,
In October, you organized a special collection for the sisters of your Society in Gabon. It turns out that I would have gladly made a donation for Gabon, but more specifically for the victims of sexual abuse by your fellow clergy in this country.
You are not unaware that Fr. Groche admitted such abuses (without great consequences for him, however, according to the custom of your superiors) and, on the other hand, it is clear that there are multiple victims, not just one. Not to mention the victims of your fellow priest, multi-recidivist pedophile Damian Carlile, whom your superiors have still not reduced to the lay state. In any case, I’ve personally known for a long time at least three victims of SSPX predators who have ravaged Gabon, and I have no doubt that, full of the evangelical justice that you preach in season and out of season, you want to come to their help, in keeping with the maxim of the Beatitudes: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice.”
In short, I would have liked to make a donation for these victims (whom you are certainly helping!), so that they can meet their multiple costs: legal, medical, psychological and psychiatric. You are not unaware, in fact, that unlike the predatory clerics of your Society, who are at most subjected to the terrifying penance of spending some years in a house in the middle of nowhere, the victims of sexual abuse receive a life sentence: They remain marked for life by the terrible evil they suffer and never fully recover from it. Hence the considerable costs of all kinds — not to mention the pretium doloris — to which I have no doubt that a man full of evangelical justice like you wishes to contribute.
I am simply looking for where and when you would have launched a call for donations for this action in favor of the virtue of justice, in order to be able to make my contribution. More broadly, it seems useful to me to clearly distinguish the causes when appealing for donations, so that the faithful can clearly decide for which cause they are giving.
I am thinking in particular of the expenses of your Society to protect either its pedophile priests or its reputation and its image whenever it covers up the abuse of such criminals in Roman collars and finds itself in an uncomfortable position.
For example, at the sentencing of your fellow priest, abuser Frédéric Abbet, your predecessor Fr. Patrick Duverger issued this magnificent press release. This monument of self-righteousness and lies by omission, promptly refuted here, was concocted on the basis of the report made by the attorney, Mr. Laquay, who was present at this last hearing of the trial. This means your Society paid a lawyer — inevitably with the money of its benefactors — to try to clear itself (like the whitewashed sepulchers to which Christ famously refers) in a case where its deliberate negligence had been such that one can arguably call it complicity with the abuser.
As you like it — but it would be useful if the funds used for such operations to protect your Society’s pedo-criminal system were carefully distinguished from the rest, so that only donations of Catholics knowingly willing to do so could contribute to such funds. To use donor money to protect rapists and the criminal clerical system that shelters them, using donations intended for your spiritual works — that seems to me an abuse.
This is why a very distinct appeal for donations should be launched when it comes to paying the lawyers’ fees intended to protect pedophile priests and the SSPX pedophile system that protects them. In the present case, to repeat myself, I wish to donate to your works in Gabon, but towards the aid of victims of your brother priests, whether they are boys raped by your colleagues from Libreville or young girls from the mission made pregnant by the same (yes, yes, find out).
In order not to mix up tea towels and napkins, as I note above, I would be grateful if you could tell me how to make a donation with the certainty that it benefits your victims, not abusers among your fellow clerics or the pedo-criminal system of Menzingen that protects them.
Please accept, Father, the same consideration from me that your Society shows towards the victims of its own priests.

Monsieur l’abbé,
En octobre, vous avez organisé une collecte spéciale pour les soeurs de votre Fraternité au Gabon. Il se trouve que j’aurais volontiers fait un don pour le Gabon mais plus précisément pour les victimes d’abus sexuels de vos confrères dans ce pays.
Vous n’ignorez pas que l’abbé Groche a reconnu de tels abus (sans grandes conséquences pour lui, toutefois, selon l’habitude de vos supérieurs) et, d’autre part, il est clair qu’il s’agit de multiples victimes, pas d’une seule. Sans compter les victimes de votre confrère pédophile mutirécidiviste Damian Carlile, que vos supérieurs n’ont toujours pas réduit à l’état laïc, lui non plus. En tout cas, je connais personnellement de longue date au moins 3 victimes de ces vôtres confrères prédateurs qui ont ravagé le Gabon et je ne doute pas que, plein de la justice évangélique que vous prêchez à temps et à contretemps, vous ne vouliez venir à leur secours, selon la maxime des Béatitudes: “Bienheureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de justice”.
En bref, j’aurais voulu effectuer un don pour ces victimes, que vous aidez certainement, pour qu’elles puissent faire face à leurs multiples frais: juridiques, médicaux, psychologiques et psychiatriques. Vous n’ignorez pas en effet que, contrairement aux clercs prédateurs de votre Fraternité, qui se voient imposer au maximum la terrifiante pénitence de passer quelques années dans une maison au milieu de nulle part, les victimes d’abus sexuels prennent perpétuité: elles restent marquées à vie par le mal terrible qu’elles subissent et ne s’en remettent jamais totalement. D’où des frais considérables de tous ordres – sans compter le pretium doloris – auxquels je ne doute pas qu’un homme plein de justice évangélique comme vous souhaite contribuer. Je cherche simplement où et quand vous auriez lancé un appel aux dons pour cette action en faveur de la vertu de justice, pour pouvoir y apporter ma contribution.
De façon plus large, il me semble utile de bien distinguer les causes lors des appels aux dons, pour que les fidèles puissent décider clairement pour quelle cause ils donnent. Je pense en particulier aux dépenses de votre Fraternité pour protéger soit ses prêtres pédophiles soit sa réputation et son image quand elle a couvert de tels criminels en col romain et se retrouve en fâcheuse posture. Par exemple, lors de la condamnation de votre confrère abuseur Frédéric Abbet, votre prédécesseur l’abbé Patrick Duverger a commis ce magnifique communiqué de presse. Ce monument de pharisaïsme et de mensonges par omission, rapidement réfuté ici. a été concocté sur la base du rapport fait par Me Laquay, qui était présent à cette dernière audience du procès. Cela signifie que votre Fraternité a rémunéré un avocat – forcément avec l’argent de ses bienfaiteurs – pour tenter de se blanchir (comme les sépulcres dont parle le Christ) dans une affaire où sa négligence délibérée avait été telle qu’on peut sans doute parler de complicité avec l’abuseur. C’est comme vous voulez mais il serait utile que les fonds utilisés pour de telles opérations de protection du système pédophile de votre société sacerdotale fussent soigneusement distingués du reste, de façon à n’employer à cette fin que les dons de fidèles disposés à y contribuer en toute connaissance de cause.
Utiliser pour protéger vos confrères violeurs et le système fraternitaire criminel qui les couvre des dons destinés à vos oeuvres spirituelles, voilà qui me paraît abusif. C’est pourquoi il faudrait lancer un appel aux dons bien distinct quand il s’agit de payer les honoraires d’avocats destinés à protéger les prêtres pédophiles et le système pédocriminel de la FSSPX qui les couvre.
En l’occurrence, pour me répéter, je souhaite donner pour vos oeuvres au Gabon mais pour l’aide aux victimes de vos frères prêtres, qu’il s’agisse de garçons violés par vos confrères de Libreville ou des jeunes filles de la mission mises enceintes par les mêmes (si, si, renseignez-vous). Afin de ne pas mélanger les torchons et les serviettes, comme je le souligne ci-dessus, je vous saurais gré de bien vouloir m’indiquer comment faire un don en étant certain qu’il profite à vos victimes, pas à vos abuseurs ni au système pédocriminel de Menzingen qui les protège.
Veuillez agréer, Monsieur l’abbé, la même considération que celle dont votre Fraternité fait preuve envers les victimes de ses propres prêtres.
