Fr. Edward F. Wojtycha
Accused publicly in 10/20 by a 45-year-old man of sexually abusing him as a child for years, beginning at age 7. The alleged victim said that he was also abused by Rev. Kenneth L. Martin, who had promised to protect him from Wojtycha. Instead, both priests allegedly abuse him at St. Andrew’s parish in Bayonne, at hotels, and at a Jersey Shore house. The abuse is said to have included beatings, psychological torture and sodomy. Parish priest at St. Vincent de Paul in Bayonne 1938-63, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy in Jersey City 1963-70, and St. Andrew’s in Bayonne 1970-85. Elevated to Monsignor in 1983. Auxiliary Naval chaplain. Held chancery positions and received numerous honors. Lead a drum and bugle corp 1940s-60s. Retired in 1985 to the Palm Beach FL diocese. Died 6/8/09.
