Fr. Ramon Varela
Named publicly as accused by the Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province on its list 5/31/2019. It notes allegations received in 1994 of the sexual abuse of minors 1949-1979. Varela’s first assignment was in 1949, in AZ. He died in 2002. Included on the Oakland diocese’s list in 2019. Added to the Stockton diocese’s list 11/12/2020, where he worked 1955-1960. Included in 8/2021 on the Diocese of Fresno’s list of credibly accused, where he was assigned 1968-1970.
