Fr. John L. Tholen
A man told the Diocese in 1997 that Tholen groomed him and then assaulted him once in the early 1960s at Holy Redeemer Parish. The Bishop apologized and offered a settlement. Tholen retired the same year, for medical reasons. In 1999, a brother of the original complainant filed a civil suit claiming abuse by Tholen when he was a minor. Settled in 2000. Tholen died in 1/2012. Included on the Diocese’s list 7/9/2019.
