Fr. Kenneth Charles Ruge
Accused of abuse said to have occurred prior to 1985. Received treatment and reassigned. Removed in 1991. Died in 5/2002. Included in a 2003 settlement by the Archdiocese. Included on the Archdiocese’s list of abusers in 3/2006. New suit filed in 4/2006 alleges abuse by Ruge and another priest. Archdiocese settled at least one claim in a 5/2007 $6.65M settlement with 14 people alleging abuse by 12 priests. At least one more claim was included in a 8/2008 $12.7M settlement involving 11 priests. Another settlement in 7/2009. Personnel file released in 1/2014. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General’s Report, which notes 24 “reported survivors.”
