Fr. Cornelius F. O’Connor
From Ireland. Arrived in the U.S. in 1945 or 1946, assigned in 5/1946 to a parish in Chico. Dean 1968-1972; held diocesan offices 1972-1986; made monsignor in 1979. Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption in Carmichael 1972 until his death 7/14/1989. Accused in 2008 of sexually abusing a boy at Our Lady of the Assumption beginning in 1987 when the boy was age 8. The boy’s parents said the Diocese admitted there were other victims. A lawsuit filed in the early 2020s claims abuse by O’Connor of an 8-year-old boy at Our Lady of the Assumption in the 1980s.
