Fr. Joseph F. Mika
Accused in 2004 of abusing a girl at a Catholic school in Pulaski. As of 2008 Mika was still with the Franciscans, “under appropriate restrictions.” The Order had paid nearly $16K for counseling for the alleged victim. In 1/2009, however, they declined to pay for additional counseling, citing the “downturn” in the economy. Mika died 11/17/2009. Included as of 1/2024 on the Franciscans’ Our Lady of Guadalupe Province’s list of credibly accused. (Member of the Assumption Province.)

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
