Fr. John E. McLaughlin
Named in a 9/2002 lawsuit with claims of abuse by 12 priests. One man said he went to McLaughlin for counseling in 6/2001 and was groped. A second man later said the priest groped him at his son’s christening. Both included in a 2003 massive settlement. Placed on leave in 5/2004 when a recent allegation arose that he sexually abused a minor about 20 years prior. Officially removed from his assignment, per a 4/01/2005 statement. Included on the Archdiocese’s list in 8/2011. The Tribunal deemed the allegations unsubstantiated in 8/2012. Placed on senior priest status with restrictions. Status unchanged in 8/2022.
