Fr. Rene Maynard
Ordained in 1955 for the Franciscans. Assigned in Buffalo, NY. Incardinated in 1964 into the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Transferred from one parish to another in 1966 due to ‘affairs’ with two different women. Requested laicization in 1966. Noted to have left the Province in 1971. Married in 1972. Allegation in 2002 that Maynard sexually abused a female Coosa High School student in GA in 1965. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Buffalo diocese on its list updated 11/05/2018. Accused in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act in 2019 of sexually abusing a Bishop Timon High School student 1957-1958. Included on the Atlanta archdiocese’s list 4/1/2019. On the Holy Name Province Franciscans’ list in 10/2021 of those against whom there are substantiated allegations. Living in Buford, GA in 2022. Died 2/22/2023. Included in the 3/24/2023 GA PAC Report.
