Fr. Kelvin E. Iguabita-Rodriguez
Iguabita, a native of Colombia, trained and ordained by the Boston archdiocese, was placed on leave 7/18/2001 from his assignment at All Saints in Haverhill. Arrested 1/15/2002 on 2 charges of rape of 15-year-old girl in 2000, after a mandated reporter contacted the diocese 11/16/2001 and then civil authorities. Cardinal Law started a canonical investigation of rape allegation on 11/17/2001, citing ‘three other known accusations of inappropriate sexual relationships, one of which involves rape.’ On 6/20/2003 a jury found Iguabita guilty of rape of the girl. Sentenced 6/27/2003 to 12-14 years in prison. Also charged on 4/2/2002 with assault of a 24-year-old woman prior to ordination, when he worked at St. Joachim’s in Rockport. Involuntary laicization announced 2/11/2005. Victim met Pope Benedict on 4/17/2008. Third request for new trial denied 2/2011. Included on the archdiocese’s list of accused in 8/2011. Apparently deported in 2015 at the end of his sentence. Suit filed 10/7/2015 alleges abuse of girl in 1999-2001, starting at age 5 and including rape. Iguabita was reportedly in Honduras in 2015. Sued in 5/2022 by a woman claiming abuse by Iguabita at ages 5-7 during 1999-2001.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
