Fr. John A. Haberthier
The Dodge City diocese, where Haberthier worked 8/1950-12/1973, announced credible allegations against him in 12/2006. Worked in the Pueblo CO diocese 11/1973-7/1977. Included on the San Bernardino CA diocese’s list 10/9/2018, where he worked 1979-1980 and 1982-1987. The list noted abuse occurring in 1973 in Whittier, and that the diocese was made aware in 10/2006. Died 12/28/2009 at age 87, in Great Bend KS. On the Wichita diocese’s list 9/20/2019. On the Dodge City diocese’s list 10/1/2019. Substantiated allegations of abuse noted to have occurred in the late 1960s-mid-1970s in the Dodge City and the Pueblo dioceses. Per the CO Attorney General’s report 10/22/2019, abused at least four boys there, and the Pueblo bishop knew in at least 1977. Haberthier fled to CA; CO bishop did not inform CA.
