Fr. Francis J. Furfaro
Dates of alleged abuse range from 1949 to 1987. In 1998 Furfaro admitted abusing a 19-year-old youth whom he counseled after death of the young man’s sister. Settled for about $75K in 1999. Seven men and boys filed suit 4/03. Furfaro retired in 1991. He was permanently removed from active ministry in 6/03. No criminal prosecution due to the statute of limitations. Died 3/29/10 at age 93. On diocese’s list 12/3/18. Named in three claims as of 2/14/20 under the NY Child Victims Act.
