Fr. Daniel Joseph Delaney
In 11/03 R. Scamardo, the former chief counsel for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston, announced that he had been abused in 1975 by Delaney, former director for youth ministry for the Austin diocese. Scamardo told Austin Bishop of his allegations and requested in-patient treatment. Matter settled in 10/03 for $250K and counseling fees. Delaney laicized in 1987 “for behavior problems.” Bishop admitted he had heard from other victims. Another suit filed 5/04. Died in 2008. On Austin diocese’s list 1/31/19.
