Fr. Hector Coria Gonzales
Approximately age 42 when ordained in 1/2011. Arrested 5/9/2014 on charges of statutory rape and oral copulation of a 16-year-old, girl beginning in 2013, while assigned to St. James in Davis. Released on bond 5/10/2014. Removed without privileges pending further investigation by police. Arraigned 6/10/2014 on three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and a misdemeanor charge of oral copulation with a person younger than 18. Pleaded guilty under agreement with DA to one count of sexual intercourse with the girl. Sentenced 8/29/2014 to 90 days in jail, three years probation and sexual offender counseling. Forbidden to contact the girl until she turned 18. Girl said during hearing that the sex was consensual and that she did not want the matter prosecuted. Laicized in 12/2014. Was facing deportation to Mexico in 2015. Felony reduced to misdemeanor and dismissed in 12/2017. On diocese’s list 4/30/2019.
