Fr. Donald J. Buzanowski
Suspended in 1992. Convicted in 2000 on child porn charge; sentenced to 21 months in jail. Admitted in a 2002 letter (made public in 2003) to molesting 14 boys ages 14-17 in 1969-88. Laicized in 3/05. Convicted in 7/05; sentenced to 32 years in prison. Claimant rejected a proposed settlement but lost jury trial in 2007. Case dismissed. In 9/08, WI Supreme Court declined to hear appeal. Released in 5/12 due to conflict regarding changes to appellate law. Got court permission to live in Green Bay. Used loophole to live near park. In 2014, he was found living one block from victim’s grandmother; was moved to state-run facility for criminal offenders on Green Bay’s west side. On diocese’s list 1/17/19. It notes he was on leave in 1989 and resigned from the priesthood in 1992.
