Fr. Robert M. Burns
Worked in the Diocese of Youngstown 1975-1981, where he sexually abused minors. Sent for treatment. Transferred to the Archdiocese of Boston. Youngstown told Boston not to allow Burns to be around children. Continued to abuse. Removed from active ministry in 1991. Pleaded guilty in 3/1996 in NH to molesting two youths. Served three years of an eight-year sentence. Admitted to abusing 42 boys and young men. Sued several times. Boston settled claims totaling more than $2.6M 1992-2002. Laicized in 1999. Convicted again in 2005. Given an 11-year sentence. Released from prison and living in Boston in 2015, per a 7/2017 news article. Included on the Youngstown diocese’s list 10/29/2018.
