Fr. David J. Boyea
Accused of abusing 9-12 boys over five years. A woman said she told Auxiliary Bishop in 1979 that Boyea had molested her son. A $12M civil suit was filed 11/86 on behalf of three victims; suit is believed to be sealed. In 8/85 Boyea pled guilty to one criminal charge and was sentenced to 10 years in jail. Petition to reduce sentencing denied 9/88. Released 1995. Lifetime listing on sex offender registry. Bishop Bornea withdrew from public ministry in 9/18 after admitting he failed to report Boyea’s abuse in 1979. Boyea included on Green Bay diocese’s list 1/17/19. It notes he went “on leave” in 1985, and was laicized in 1990. Also, multiple substantiated allegations of abuse in about 1977-85.
