Fr. Gerard R. Miller
Known as "Fr. Jerry." Priest of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette. Named in a suit by two men in 2019 of abusing them and other boys as teenagers for three years, beginning in 1984. The boys were residents of the Home for Wayward Boys in Knox. Miller allegedly raped and assaulted them, at times along with a visiting "Fr. Jim," in his bedroom at the Home, and on trips to Agawam, MA and Atlanta, GA. Said to have plied them with alcohol, drugs, and "lavish spending on shopping sprees" and to have threatened them if they resisted the abuse. In 1987 one boy told trusted adults who, along with a nun, contacted law enforcement. No charges, reportedly because the boy was too traumatized to give a full statement. In 7/2019 a man said his son died by suicide just shy of age 18, having been abused by Miller. Order moved Miller to a Marietta, GA parish, then to England in 1989. He left the priesthood, married, and moved to FL. Included in the 3/24/2023 GA PAC Report (first name 'Gerard'.)

Worked at the parish until transferred in 1979 after complaints from staff members of "an atmosphere of fear and repression." Briefly at St. Teresa of Avila, then four years in the Military Ordinate in NYC. Assigned in 1984 to the VA in Albany. Died by suicide in 2/2004 after identified as having written a letter in 1995 to NY's Cardinal O'Connor saying Albany Bishop Hubbard and other priests were gay and having sex with one another.

The man refused. A second man came forward in 7/03 to report that he had notified the diocese in 2002 that Pizzutti abused him once at age 15. No criminal charges filed due to SOL. Referred to as a "former priest" in 6/04 report on investigation of Bishop Hubbard. In 6/19 a 49-year-old man alleged publicly that he was abused beginning in 1980 at age 11 and throughout his teen years by Pratt. He said Pratt made him and another boy engage in sex acts with each other, while he watched. He also claimed that at age 16 he told Bishop Hubbard, and that Hubbard told him that if he ever said anything to anyone again about it he would have him arrested. Lawsuit filed in 8/19.

From Colombia. Professed vows as a Salesian brother in 1967. Three men filed suit in 9/2002 alleging abuse by Puello when they were students at Salesian Jr. Seminary in Goshen, NY 1969-1973. One man said he told the seminary director (who went on to become an Auxiliary Bishop in Boston); the director dismissed the victim from the seminary, saying he was "not priest material." Per the suit, others at the seminary knew what was going on and there were other abusers at the school. Puello left the order at some point. He was ery active for decades in the Westchester County, NY theater community, including with youth. Died 8/21/2019. Included in 3/2020 on the Salesians list of credibly accused. Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
