Former Bishop of Ballarat Ronald Mulkearns has given evidence under oath that he did not recall a complaint being made about former priest Robert Claffey.
Mr Claffey is charged with historical sex offences dating back to 1970.
Bishop Mulkearns gave evidence this morning in Mr Claffey’s committal hearing at the Geelong Magistrates Court.
The court heard Mr Claffey offered his resignation to Bishop Mulkearns in 1989 after the bishop supposedly met with the father of an alleged victim.
Bishop Mulkearns said he remembered Mr Claffey “had been misbehaving … In a sexual way”.
