A former Catholic school teacher in Louisville has been sentenced in federal court for having child porn.

Jordan Fautz, 40, was a seventh and eighth grade religion teacher and maintenance employee at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic School, which is on Hess Lane near Poplar Level Road. Federal investigators say he sent pornographic images of children to an undercover officer.

A federal judge sentenced him to 235 months in prison. That’s 19 years and seven months behind bars followed by 30 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Fautz was also ordered to pay $28,130 in restitution to his victims.

Court documents show Fautz used yearbook photos of students and at least one adult from the school and photoshopped the pictures on top of nude images.

“Jordan Fautz chose to abuse his position of trust by egregiously violating the privacy of innocent children. His sentencing marks a critical step in our efforts to combat the exploitation of children,” said Special Agent in Charge Stansbury in a news release.

Fautz pleaded guilty in Dec. 2024 to seven charges. He was arrested and charged in Feb. 2024 with distributing child pornography, distributing obscene visual representation of child sexual abuse and possession of child pornography between March 31, 2022, to Feb. 2, 2024.

A lawsuit was also filed against the Archdiocese of Louisville in March 2024 by 11 former students and parents in Jefferson Circuit Court. The suit claims Fautz’s employment was investigated, vetted and approved by his mother, who was a business manager at SSM.

Fautz was employed at SSM from 2015 until his arrest, according to the lawsuit. During his tenure, Fautz held multiple roles including librarian, Quick Recall moderator and organizer/teacher of “Shop Class.”

The lawsuit makes numerous allegations about violent outbursts at school by Fautz along with showing graphic YouTube videos to his class and having an inappropriate relationship with an eighth grader.
