More complainants have come forward accusing a priest from Monaghan Town of historical sexual abuse during his time as a teacher and president of a County Fermanagh school.

Canon Patrick McEntee, is on a leave of absence from his Co. Tyrone parish duties since 2022 to allow a safeguarding investigation to be carried out. Earlier in his career, the Monaghan priest was a Religion teacher at St Michael’s College in Enniskillen. He also served as School President at the all-boys grammar school from 1994 to 2000.

Last year, he was charged with sexual offences against two males in the Fermanagh area but denies indecently assaulting one complainant between 1988 and 1989 and also a single count of indecently assaulting another male between 1980 and 1981.Advertisement

Following his not guilty pleas, the priest’s case was due to go to trial in September, however, a barrister told a recent review hearing that more people have come forward to make complaints of an historical sexual nature. Canon Patrick McEntee now faces a further four counts of indecent assault against three males with offending alleged to have taken place on various dates between 1978 and 1987.
