An Omaha minister was arrested last week and is being held without bail on allegations that he repeatedly sexually abused a young boy over a period of three years.
Tre’Shawn Abram, 26, was arrested Friday on three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
An arrest affidavit for Abram says he is associated with several churches in the Omaha area. The abuse allegedly occurred when the victim was between 10 and 13 years old and Abram was between 23 and 26 years old.
Abram appeared in jail court Friday and was denied bail. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will face trial in district court.
The charges are not Abram’s first allegations of sexual misconduct. In 2019, Abram was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child after a 15-year-old girl alleged that Abram had sexually assaulted and impregnated her. According to the 2019 arrest affidavit for Abram, he admitted to police that he was the father of the child.
But in 2020, Abram pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of intentional child abuse and was sentenced to 60 days in jail with three years of probation. He was not required to register as a sex offender and was discharged early from probation in September 2022.
According to the timeline of events provided in the most recent affidavit, Abram allegedly began sexually abusing the boy in August 2020 — just one month after he finished the 60-day jail sentence.
