The Vatican is struggling to respond to claims that Pope Francis helped cover up allegations of sex abuse and protected American Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who resigned last month in disgrace. Bishops and members of the Catholic Church have been calling for answers since the bombshell Pennsylvania grand jury report that recently detailed decades of child sex abuse at the hands of priests.
