Father Francis Davidson, a former headmaster of the Scottish Catholic boarding school at the centre of an abuse scandal, has resigned from a role with Oxford University.

The initial BBC programme had uncovered evidence of serious physical and sexual abuse at the now-closed Fort Augustus Abbey School in the Highlands and feeder school Carlekemp in East Lothian.

A number of former pupils have since come forward to say that they too suffered abuse while at the schools.

Hugh Kennedy, a former pupil, says he was abused as a boy and that his abuser: “Has to face the consequences of what he has done.

“I will face Chrysostom if need be. This is a bogey man that has been on my shoulder all my life”.
