A series of open houses by Tucson Realty and Accelerated Marketing Group is giving potential bidders a chance to do their homework on Diocese property that is going to auction next month.

Tucson Realty will auction 85 properties for the Diocese of Tucson on May 21st. Other than two properties, they are all vacant land. Pima County has 29 of the properties. The Diocese of Tucson needs to raise $3.2 million to pay sexual abuse claims; however, bidders will determine if the diocese makes that much at the auction.

“I decided I’d look into vacant land, because we had vacant land and did well on it. I’m just looking as an investor,” said Ken Cousin.

“I’d really have to go look at them. I mean, it’s pretty widespread, being statewide, and obviously we don’t have time to cover the whole state, so, just pick out something that catches your eye and go with it and maybe you want to put the leg work into hunting around for it,” said Tom Hastings.
