Per 2004 news release, the Diocese of
Orange named Aranda as one of six priests accused of the sexual abuse
of minors. Allegations against all six were received during 2003.
The diocese termed the accusations credible. Per March 1996 obituary,
Aranda was born in the Philippines and came to the states in 1975.
He worked in the Corona for 5 years and moved to Texas in 1992 or
1993. In Texas he served the Cathoic Diocese of Galveston-Houston
and was chaplain at Ben Taub Hospital. Aranda's name appears on the
Necrology listing for the Archdiocese of Capiz in the Philippines.
His Name does not appear in 1993 Catholic Directory. Per July 2004
article, Aranda's last assignment in Orange Dioces was in 1979. He
disappeared for 2 years and then surfaced in 1981 in Diocese of San
Bernardino where he worked for 8 years. He ended up at Soboba Indian
Reservation in San Jacinto in 1991. |

Per July 2004 articles, Arceneaux has
been placed on leave from his parish assignment pending an investigation
into suspected pornography on a rectory computer in St. Francis Regis
parish in Arnaudville. Reports do not indicate if the pornography
was child or "hard core" pornography. FBI has seized the
computer and is investigating. Per a subsequent article, Arceneaux's
atty claims that a "young man" has confessed to downloading
images and that his client will be cleared and returned to duty. Diocese
has said that it will not return Arceneaux to duty until the investigation
is complete, despite the attorney's statement that someone else has
confessed and despite petitions from parishioners. Arceneaux has not
been indicted or cleared. Delays are blamed on overworked federal
prosecutor and fact that investigating FBI agent has been testifying
in lengthy trial. |

Suit filed Wayne County District Court
alleges that complainant was repeatedly raped and fondled in the 1960s,
at 14-18 years of age, by Babcock, Gary Berthiaume, Leonard R. Foisy,
and Ronald Edward Modras. Foisy was an administrator at St. John's
Seminary in Plymouth; Modras, Berthiaume, and Babcock were in training
there; the complainant attended a nearby church. The complainant's
memory of the abuse was triggered by a traumatic family event in 10/93,
and the complainant made an allegation to the archdiocese in that
month. In 5/94, the archdiocese stated that its investigation had
found no information "that would qualify these allegations as
credible." Babcock denied the charges. We have no information
on the disposition of the case. In an unrelated 1977 case, Berthiaume
pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy, and served 6
months in prison. |

that Baccelliere was placed on leave in 1992 after allegation of abuse
in 1970s involving teenage males. He went to rehabilitation and was
then reassigned to several parishes beginning in 1994. Archdiocese
says he was reassigned on limited basis under close supervision. The

A 10/02 article says that the archdiocese
paid $30,000 in 1998 to settle allegations against Clark. He was investigated
and cleared by the Louisville County Police. Based on that and a psychological
assessment of Clark, the diocese decided no abuse occurred but offered
the alleged victim a financial settlement because of "difficulties
he was facing in his life" and because Clark had cared for him
for years after juvenile court placed boy in his custody. Per the
same article, Clark is on a routine sabbatical studying Spanish in
Texas and will be assigned to a parish when he returns. A 12/02 article
states that Clark has never been named in any criminal or civil matter. |

Per 7/03 articles, Colbert was a priest
on the staff of Boys Town in 1988 and was accused of inappropriately
touching a youth who was a patient at St. Joseph Center for Mental
Health. Boys Town investigated and found no sexual abuse but deemed
Colbert's conduct inappropriate. Colbert was transferred immediately.
A few years later the youth told his priest that Colbert had sexually
abused him. The order conducted an investigation and youth withdrew
charges. Colbert says he has letter from Boys Town stating there was
no abuse but he does not have copy. Order would not release the letter.
Colbert has been an active priest in Missouri for the past 15 years. |

Per 9/02 article, Collins, a retired
priest from Rockville Centre NY, made advances toward a teenager in
1998 in Palm Beach. Boy fought him off, immediately told the Palm
Beach diocese, and Collins resigned. The vicar general wrote a letter
and placed it in Collins' file. He also notified the diocese of Rockville
Center, where Collins was affiliated. Boy and his parents did not
want to file charges. In 2002, however, the file was not presented
to the committee reviewing allegations of priest sex abuse until the
boy's father went to the diocese and complained about the fact that
they did not tell the public about Collins. |

Superior Court SUCV2002-04551. In the file Comack was reported to
have "orally sodomized a student" at St. John's Preparatory
School in Danvers, where Comack was headmaster. Comack threatened
to keep the student from graduating if he reported the assault. The
abuse had occurred after Comack took the student to the hospital after
a serious beating. The complaint was made in 1994 and is the only
complaint in the file. Disposition of the case is unclear from the
file (per the article). |

abuse occurred in early 1990s when the volunteer was youth minister.
Apparently he also lived with Coughlin at St. John's rectory in South

Coughlin's actions "put a minor at risk." Diocese also announced

Per 2/04 articles, Crosby had been accused
in 1970s of abusing at least 4 teenage girls at a Utica Catholic School.
Matters were reported to Msgr. H. Charles Sewall (himself now known
as an abuser) but Sewall apparently did not report the allegations
to his supervisors because nothing was found in Crosby's files. Articles
say Crosby voluntarily left the priesthood in 1975 (according to the
Syracuse diocese). He was voluntarily laicized in 1980. Crosby later
took a job as a school guidance counselor. He was working as a guidance
counselor in 2003 but resigned shortly after school officials learned
from the DA's office about the old allegations against him. One woman
said her mother reported the abuse to the Diocese in the 1990s but
no record was found of this communication. Crosby died in 1/04. |

Per 7/04 article, 4 women (3 of them

by Cudemo in the 1970s. One of the women says her abuse began at age
10 and that when she was 12 Cudemo and several other priests raped
her in a locked church. The 3 cousins learned of their mutual abuse
in 1991 and told the archdiocese in 1991. The fourth woman also says
that she told the archdiocese in 1991 that Cudemo had abused her at
Cardinal Dougherty High School. This abuse began at age 15 and continued
for approximately 14 years. Cudemo was apparently sent for treatment
in 1991 and diagnosed as a "pedophile" but his "second
opinion said he suffered from depression and poor impulse control."
Cudemo was "cut loose" by the Archdiocese in 1994 but in
the mid-1990s he requested and received a letter declaring him in
good standing, and in 2000 he was living at a parish and saying Mass.
Article says that in 2002 Cudemo was one of several unidentified priests
