The Rev. Robert B. Cullen, 78, Priest, School Counselor Baltimore Sun February 25, 2005 The Rev. Robert B. Cullen, a retired Loyola High School guidance counselor, died of heart disease Feb.15 at a Jesuit retirement residence in Merion, Pa. He was 78. Born in Larchmont, N.Y., he entered the Society of Jesus in 1946 and earned a degree in philosophy from the old Woodstock College. From 1952 to 1953, he taught religion to sophomores at Loyola High. He was ordained a priest in 1958 and received a master's degree in counseling psychology from Fordham University in 1963. Father Cullen taught in Dallas and Pittsburgh before becoming a Loyola High guidance counselor. He also taught English, religion and psychology until 1982. He held posts elsewhere until returning to the Towson school in 1996. He worked there in community outreach programs and taught religion until retiring in 2002 and moving to the Jesuit Community of St. Isaac Jogues in Wernersville, Pa., where he served as a pastoral minister. A funeral Mass was offered there Saturday. Survivors include a sister, Nancy Hackett of Rye, N.Y., and nieces and nephews. |
