Priest Arrested on Sexual Molestation Charges at Airport Associated Press November 26, 1994 A priest wanted in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old New Jersey girl was arrested Saturday as he prepared to board a plane for Haiti. Jean Level Eliscard, 28, was arrested at Kennedy Airport, 50 minutes before his flight left, Port Authority spokeswoman Gwen Williams said. Police in Hamilton Township, N.J., began investigating the Roman Catholic priest on Friday. Eliscard apparently realized he was a suspect and tried to leave the country, police said. A tip Saturday morning from a member of his predominantly Haitian parish led police to the airport. Eliscard was charged with aggravated sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, Hamilton Lt. Kevin Pollard said. The September assault occurred at the girl's home. Eliscard is one of four clergymen at St. Francis Church in Trenton, N.J., |
