$10,000 Bond Ordered for Priest in Sex Case

Chicago Tribune
November 6, 1992

Wausau, Wis. — A $10,000 signature bond has been set for a former Tomahawk Catholic priest accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in a motel pool in 1991 and taking nude photos of him. Rev. David Malsch, 53, of Falls Church, Va., was charged with second-degree sexual assault, child enticement and misdemeanor sexual exploitation of a child, according to Marathon County Circuit Court records. A hearing to determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to convince a judge to order Malsch to stand trial is set for Dec. 3, court officials said Thursday. Rev. Philip Heslin of the Diocese of Superior, said the priest hasn't been with a parish since May 1991, when he was suspended and sent to an East Coast counseling program following the allegations of sexual abuse of the then-14-year-old boy. Malsch now works in a clothing store.
