Priest Gets 90 Days for Sodomizing Boy Washington Times October 10, 1992 A Roman Catholic priest has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for sodomizing a 16-year-old boy. The Rev. Daniel Calabrese, 31, formerly of St. Mary's Parish in Poughkeepsie, pleaded guilty earlier this year to sodomizing the boy in the parish rectory after getting him drunk on vodka. After Calabrese was sentenced Thursday, District Attorney William Grady released a letter he wrote to Cardinal John O'Connor of the church's New York Diocese, saying the church's handling of Calabrese defied logic. While at St. Paul's Parish in Congers, Calabrese was caught drinking with teen-age boys and showing boys a pornographic videotape. He was transferred to St. Mary's, where he was put in charge of youth programs. |
