The San Antonio Archdiocese said Tuesday that a priest accused in Washington state of molesting four minors was never assigned to minister in San Antonio.

David Clohessy, director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said he is concerned that the Rev. Hilario Ramirez may have abused victims in Texas and called on San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller to reach out to others who may have been allegedly abused by Ramirez.

But according to a statement from the San Antonio Archdiocese, Ramirez "did not have an assignment for ministry in the Archdiocese of San Antonio at any time. He also never applied nor received 'faculties' to minister here. The Archdiocese of San Antonio has no record of any accusations of sexual abuse of minors against him."

The statement said Ramirez had been a "guest priest" in Dilley sometime in the early 1970's and that García-Siller will reach out to St. Joseph's Parish in Dilley, advising them that he had visited Dilley and

about credible information from the Diocese of Yakima, Washington about the alleged molestation.

According to the The Diocese of Yakima, former parishioners in Mexico told them that Ramirez may have died in a car crash in the early 1980s.
