	Special: Paperwork Documents Soens Case By Ann McGlynn Quad-City Times February 16, 2008 http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2008/02/16/news/local/doc47b62522ac415180178591.txt Retired Bishop Lawrence Soens is the only accused clergy member named in the Diocese of Davenport's bankruptcy reorganization plan. In it, the diocese agreed to forward a report to the Vatican's U.S. representative about the abuse accusations. About 25 people have come forward with accusations against Soens, said Craig Levien, an attorney who represents several diocesan sex abuse victims. The majority are from the time Soens was Regina High School principal. Most of them remain anonymous, although their affidavits and depositions are included in the lawsuit of one former student, Michael Gould. Mike Dalton of West Branch, Iowa, who settled a claim with the diocese in October 2004 for $20,000, is another former student. The announcement of that settlement by the diocese in January 2005 was the first public acknowledgement that Soens had been accused. His affidavit can be read online at www.qctimes.com/multimedia.
