	Another Abuse Accusation Surfaces against Local Catholic Priest News-Leader [Missouri] January 18, 2007 http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070118/BREAKING01/70118020 A second person has reported having been sexually abused by a local Catholic priest who died more than 25 years ago. In a public statement issued Dec. 19 the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau said it received a credible accusation of sexual abuse of a minor occurring 40 years ago against one of its priests, Eugene Deragowski, who died in 1981. Since that statement's release, another credible accusation also taking place in the diocese in the 1960s has been received. As required by the diocesan policy on sexual abuse, the additional accusation has been reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities, according to a press release from the diocese. Diocesan officials have been in contact with the complainant who has requested, and will be provided, anonymity and confidentiality, the release said. The diocese has encouraged anyone with information about sexual misconduct to report it. The diocesan phone number is 866-0841.
