	Altoona-Johnstown Catholic Diocese Relieved of Interest Payments Pittsburgh Post-Gazette [Pennsylvania] October 8, 2006 http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06281/728454-85.stm A judge ruled the Altoona-Johnstown Catholic Diocese does not have to pay additional interest to a man who was awarded $1 million in punitive damages for being abused by a priest in the 1970s. Blair County Judge Hiram Carpenter issued the ruling Thursday in the case of Michael Hutchison, who was molested repeatedly by the now-defrocked priest, Francis Luddy. A jury awarded Mr. Hutchison more than $500,000 in compensatory damages after a trial on the lawsuit that was filed in 1987, but the issue of whether the diocese owed punitive damages for failing to properly supervise Father Luddy was tied up in appeals.
