	Former Priest Wants Reinstatement UPI September 29, 2006 http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20060929-070538-1002r Miami, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A former Roman Catholic priest in South Florida, defrocked for alleged sex abuse, says the diocese of Miami defamed him and he is seeking reinstatement. The Rev. Jan Malicki, in a news conference at his lawyer's office, said he may sue two women who accused him of sexual misconduct, the Miami Herald reported. The diocese settled with the women last year. "The archdiocese unjustly took away my good name, my life of priesthood and carried out my character assassination," Malicki said. He claims the sexual misconduct charges surfaced after he reported to the diocese that parishioners had complained of another priest's alcoholism. Malicki was never criminally charged, although the diocese at one point said an arrest was imminent. Malicki's defamation suit against the church was dismissed in 2003. Diocesan officials say that the settlement with the victims closes the case as far as the church is concerned.
