	KSAC Closure of Dayton Avenue Church Put on Hold RJR [Jamaica] July 22, 2006 http://www.rjr94fm.com/news/story.php?category=2&story=26497 The planned closure of the Dayton Avenue Church of God by the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) has been put on hold. The KSAC had planned to close the church, which has been at the centre of a sexual abuse case involving a 13-year-old girl. A closure notice should have been served on the church on Friday for breaching building regulations. However, Mayor Kingston, Desmond McKenzie, says officials of the church met with the KSAC Friday and an agreement was reached. Results of an investigation carried out by the KSAC on Wednesday, confirmed that the Church has been operating illegally as it did not obtain building approval from the Corporation. It was revealed that the building which houses the church was converted from a single-story residential unit to a two-story building without authorization. The Dayton Avenue Church has been in the news since a 48-year-old deacon of the church and three teenaged boys were identified as being involved in the sexual assault. Two of the three boys who appeared in court Friday pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault. They were released on bail in the sum of $100,000 each and ordered to return to court on September eighth for sentencing. The deacon and the third boy remain in custody, after pleading not guilty.
