	Strandhill Priest Will Not Be Prosecuted RTE News [Ireland] May 26, 2006 http://www.rte.ie/news/2006/0526/abuse.html The parish priest of Strandhill in Co Sligo will not be prosecuted following a garda investigation into an allegation of abuse. Canon Niall Ahern stood aside from his ministry in Strandhill in February this year while gardai investigated the allegation which the priest had denied. It has now emerged that the DPP has decided not to proceed with a prosecution against Fr Ahern. In a statement, Fr Ahern said: 'I am relieved that this harrowing time is over. While the truth was being independently and categorical determined I stood aside from ministry. 'This is now concluded and I greatly look forward to resuming my work in the parish.'
