Priest Appeals against Sex Conviction ABC [Australia] March 23, 2006 http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200603/s1598578.htm A Catholic priest convicted of sex offences in Tasmania has lodged an appeal against his conviction. Roger Michael Bellemore, 70, was recently found guilty of maintaining a sexual relationship with four north-west Tasmanian school boys in the late 1960s and early 1970s. At the time of the sexual abuse, Bellemore was a priest and teacher at Burnie's Marist College. He is due to be sentenced for the offences on Monday. The appeal will be heard at a later date. |
