	Ex-Youth Leader Guilty of Sex Abuse Rcokford Register Star March 18, 2006 http://www.rrstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060318/NEWS0107/103180021 Rockford — A former church youth leader was found guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse Friday morning. Emos Parham, 53, now faces either probation or up to seven years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He was found not guilty of a second count of the same crime. A longtime administrative assistant and youth leader at Saint Paul Church of God in Christ, 1001 Wigton Ave., Parham was arrested in July 2004 after the then-13-year-old victim told police he had been sexually abused by Parham. At the time of the arrest, Winnebago County Sheriff Dick Meyers said, "The victim confided in some friends who told some people at the church, who then went to the pastor, who urged them to report this incident to DCFS." According to police, the sexual abuse occurred in Parham's home during the summer of 2002. Kate Kurtz, the assistant state's attorney, said she wasn't upset that Parham was not convicted of the second count. "We're pleased with the jury's verdict," she said.
