Accused Minister Sentenced KWWL [Iowa] February 14, 2006 http://www.kwwl.com/Global/story.asp?S=4503842&nav=2Ifu A KWWL follow-up... An eastern Iowa minister accused of sexually assaulting a nursing home resident has put in a plea. 71-year-old Galen Peckham of La Porte City entered an Alford plea to indecent exposure and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse. That means Peckham doesn't admit guilt, but acknowledges there is enough evidence to convict him. Police say Peckham was visiting a 93-year-old woman at Manorcare Health Services in Waterloo last fall when he exposed himself and touched her inappropriately. Peckham resigned as a visitation minister at the First United Methodist Church in Waterloo. A judge gave him a two-year suspended sentence. He must also register as a sex offender. |
