COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) - A former Coventry Middle School teacher, once accused of trying to solicit sex from a minor in Massachusetts, is now facing child pornography charges in Virginia.
Rhode Island State Police, Coventry Police and the U.S. Marshal's Service arrested Edward J. Sadowski, 67, of Shady Valley Rd. Friday. He is wanted in Virginia on charges of possession of child pornography, transmission of child pornography and indecent solicitation of a minor.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, Sadowski was transmitting child pornography, as well as attempting to solicit sex from an undercover officer posing online as a 13-year-old girl.
A search of computers and other digital media in Sadowski's home revealed he was illegally possessing images of child pornography, state police said.
It's not the first time Sadowski has faced similar charges. In 2001, police arrested him in a Massachusetts motel. Police said he had made arrangements to have sex with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl.
Sadowski was held without bail as a Fugitive from Justice from the State of Virginia. He is due in District Court at some point Monday.
